WHEN THE FRUITS SPEAK, THE TREE NEEDS NO INTRODUCTION: HON. FESTUS ADEFIRANYE’S QUALITY REPRESENTATION BEYOND POLITICS
There is a timeless African proverb that says, “The tree laden with fruits does not struggle for recognition.” As another election approaches in Ileoluji/Okeigbo & Odigbo Federal Constituency, the question before the people is not who spoke the loudest, but who served the people best? When history calls the roll of purposeful leadership, will it remember speeches or projects? Will it celebrate slogans or service?
Hon. Festus Adefiranye’s first term has become a story written in roads that now connect streets, classrooms that have been restored, healthcare projects that have brought relief, and empowerment programmes that have changed lives. Beyond bricks and mortar, he has invested in human capital, creating employment opportunities for young people, empowering women and farmers, supporting students with educational opportunities, and facilitating international exposure for youths through overseas programmes. After all, a leader who lights another person’s candle does not diminish his own flame.
So, what truly defines representation? Is it the bitterness of political camps, or the smiles of beneficiaries? Does a newly tarred road ask who voted for it before carrying commuters? Does a renovated classroom separate the children of supporters from those of critics? Does empowerment wear party colours before transforming lives? The sun shines on every rooftop, and the rain falls on every farm. That is the true meaning of quality representation it serves all, regardless of political leaning.
As the people prepare to make another choice, one question deserves an honest answer: Can anyone sincerely say that Hon. Festus Adefiranye has not performed? The footprints are visible, the testimonies are many, and the beneficiaries are spread across the constituency. You may argue with words, but it is difficult to argue with evidence. Indeed, the eye that has seen daylight does not mistake night for noon.
The next election should therefore be a contest of records, not rumours; of performance, not propaganda; of unity, not division. When brothers pull in different directions, the load remains on the ground; when they pull together, even the impossible becomes possible. If the fruits have spoken through roads, schools, hospitals, jobs, empowerment and human capital development, then perhaps the tree truly needs no introduction.
