SUPA: ITF’s Skill-Up Initiative Deepens Human Capital Development

The Skill-Up Artisans (SUPA) initiative of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) is strengthening efforts to equip Nigerians with practical skills, create economic opportunities and promote sustainable human capacity development across the country.

The initiative reflects the growing recognition that empowering citizens with relevant vocational and technical skills can improve productivity, enhance dignity of labour and open new pathways to self-reliance. By investing in artisans and other skilled workers, SUPA seeks to contribute to a workforce better prepared to meet the demands of a changing economy.

At the centre of the programme is the Director-General of the ITF, Dr. Oluwatoyin Afiz-Ogun, whose leadership has continued to place skills development and human capital investment prominently in the Fund’s development agenda.

The SUPA initiative also reinforces the broader principle that national development is not built solely through physical infrastructure, but through investment in people. When citizens acquire productive skills and opportunities to apply them, families, communities and the wider economy stand to benefit.

As the country continues to pursue inclusive economic growth, initiatives such as SUPA underline the importance of putting humanity, skills and development first—with the expectation that the impact of today’s investment in people will remain part of Nigeria’s development story for years to come.
