EMPOWERMENT AS A CATALYST: ADEBARE’S INITIATIVE SPURS HOPE AND OPPORTUNITY ACROSS ILE-OLUJI/OKEIGBO

The ongoing youth and women empowerment programme of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area, under the leadership of its Executive Chairman, Hon. Adebare Adeboye, has continued to generate interest across the ten political wards.

A major feature of the initiative is the release of the comprehensive list of beneficiaries, providing residents with greater visibility into the selection process. The administration has also opened a window for supplementary inclusion, allowing eligible persons whose names are not on the initial list, as well as those yet to submit their forms, to seek clarification and make necessary corrections before the stipulated deadline.

With beneficiaries drawn from the ten political wards, the programme seeks to extend opportunities across the local government. The focus on youths and women is particularly significant, given their central role in household income, small businesses and grassroots economic activity.

For the beneficiaries, the expectation is that the support will provide a practical boost to existing ventures, create opportunities for new enterprises and strengthen their capacity to earn a livelihood. Properly utilised, such interventions can extend beyond individual beneficiaries to families and the wider community.

The transparent publication of the list and provision for supplementary consideration have also added an important element of accountability to the exercise. Rather than leaving residents to speculate, the process provides a channel through which concerns can be raised and genuine cases considered.
As the empowerment programme moves forward, its ultimate impact will be measured by what beneficiaries are able to build from the opportunities provided. Empowerment is most meaningful when it translates into enterprise, productivity and improved livelihoods.
For Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo, the initiative represents a deliberate investment in people, opportunity and grassroots economic participation.
