MATO Withdraws Suit Against Adefiranye at Federal High Court, Abuja

ABUJA — August 12, 2026

**Hon. Mathew Oyerinmade, popularly known as MATO, has withdrawn the legal action he instituted against Hon. Festus Adefiranye over the substitution of his name in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary for the Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo/Odigbo Federal Constituency.

The matter came up on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, before the Federal High Court in Abuja, where counsel to Oyerinmade, Dr. Remi Olatubora, SAN, informed the court of his client’s decision to discontinue the case on personal grounds.

Counsel representing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and counsel to the respondent, Hon. Festus Adefiranye, reportedly indicated that they had no objection to the application for withdrawal.

Following the application, the presiding judge granted the request and ordered the suit dismissed upon withdrawal. The matter was subsequently struck out and removed from the court’s cause list.

The development effectively brings the legal proceeding to an end, with the MATO Mandate Group saying the statement was issued to clarify the status of the case and provide the public, supporters and political stakeholders with an accurate account of the development.
