Nigerian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Nations, Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR, Attends Envoys’ Orientation
Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Nations, Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR, was one of the prominent participants as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today flagged off a three‑day orientation and induction programme for ambassadors and high commissioners designate.
Dr. Ibrahim, who holds an extraordinary nine university degrees, including two PhDs, is a distinguished graduate of Oxford University, Harvard University, Cambridge University, and the London School of Economics. His rare academic pedigree and vast professional experience continue to shape his vision for Nigeria’s diplomacy and global representation.
He joined fellow envoys including Barrister Olumilua Oluwayimika Ayotunwa (Japan), Ambassador Lola Akande (Sweden), Ambassador Femi Pedro (Australia), and Ambassador Ayo Oke (France) and others. The programme, which runs from April 27–29, is designed to prepare envoys for the responsibilities of representing Nigeria abroad, strengthen Nigeria’s voice in multilateral institutions, and foster collaboration to project a unified national interest.
Dr. Ibrahim’s leadership was also evident in his recent engagement at the United Nations, where he presented his letter of credence to Secretary‑General António Guterres. In his remarks, he declared that President Bola Tinubu is determined to resolve Nigeria’s generational grievances, emphasizing that insecurity is rooted in historical and socio‑economic challenges. He highlighted Tinubu’s reforms in fuel subsidy removal, foreign exchange unification, and infrastructure investment as steps toward lasting stability.
The orientation, which commenced today, sets the tone for Nigeria’s envoys to serve with integrity, excellence, and unity in promoting the country’s image worldwide.
